HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1985/11/19 Item 9 COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT Item 9 ,/ Meeting Datel1/19/85 ITEM TITLE: Resolution /AA-C/ - Authorizing Expenditure of Funds for the South San Diego Bay Christmas Parade of Lights SUBMITTED BY: Assistant City Manager 40 (4/5ths Vote: Yes Nox ) At the November 5, 1985 City Council meeting, a written communication was received from the Chula Vista Marina requesting funding for the first annual South San Diego Bay Christmas Parade of Lights. RECOMMENDATION: Adont resolution authorizing exnenditure of $850 from the contingency fund (100-0730-5399) . BnARPS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: N.A. DISCUSSION The Chula Vista Marina is working with the nromoters of the downtown San Diego parade of lights in order to create a similar annual event for the South San Diego Bay area. The nronosed route would start in National City and Proceed up the marina channel into the marina basin. They believe the boating community will be attracted to this event if they can offer some type of grand Price. They estimate the awards cost to be approximately $850, a $500 cash grand prize, and trophies for first, second and third nlace winners in the sailboat and Power boat categories. The City Council , at the November 5, 1985 meeting, annroved the $850 request. It is , therefore, necessary to adopt a resolution authorizing the expenditure of these funds from the appropriated contingency reserve.
