At 2 p.m. on July 24, 1985, in Conference Room 5 in the Public Services
Building, the City Engineer received sealed bids for "Pavement Reconstruction
and Overlay of Third Avenue from 'K' Street to 'L' Street in the City of Chula
Vista, California". The project was included in the 1984-85 budget. The work
consists of providing asphalt concrete material overlaying a non-woven
pavement reinforcing fabric and removal of alligatored pavement areas.
RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council
1 . Authorize the expenditure of $81 ,300.
2. Accept bids and award contract to Daley Corporation, San Diego, in
the amount of $73,910.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
Bids were received from five contractors as follows:

The low bid by Daley Corporation is below the Engineer' s Estimate of
$84,663.50 by $10,753.50, or 12.7%. We have reviewed the low bid and
recommend awarding the contract to Daley Corporation.
Attached is the Contractor' s Disclosure Statement.

Contractor's Statement of Disclosure of Certain Ownership Interests on all contracts
which will require discretionary action on the part of the City Council , Planning
Commission, and all other official bodies.

contract, that sufficient monies to meet the obligations of the
contract are actually in the Treasury, or are anticipated to come
into the Treasury to the credit of the appropriation from which
the same are to be drawn, and that said monies now actually in
