The project was included in the 1984-85 budget. The work consists of providing asphalt concrete material overlaying a non-woven pavement reinforcing fabric and removal of alligatored pavement areas. RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council 1 . Authorize the expenditure of $81 ,300. 2. Accept bids and award contract to Daley Corporation, San Diego, in the amount of $73,910. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: Bids were received from five contractors as follows: BIDDER BID AMOUNT 1 . Daley Corporation, San Diego $ 73,910.00 2. R. E. Hazard Contracting Co. , San Diego 74,655.45 3. Sim J. Harris Company, San Diego 77,048.20 4. Asphalt, Inc. , El Cajon 80,946.22 5. Cocco Construction Co. , San Diego 83,301 .40 The low bid by Daley Corporation is below the Engineer' s Estimate of $84,663.50 by $10,753.50, or 12.7%. We have reviewed the low bid and recommend awarding the contract to Daley Corporation. Attached is the Contractor' s Disclosure Statement.
