\�'HEREAS. the City Council supports activities that attract residents and visitors to
Chula Vista: and
�'HEREAS; HarborFest is an e�citing reQional festival, focusine the spotli_ht on the
beautiful South Bav ��aterfront: featuring m��riad activities includine music and performances,
boat tours, educational, communit� and maritime activities, and numerous booths and e��ents that
enoage participants throuahout the marina; and
��'HEREAS, the Starlieht Parade is a beloved communitv event that brines thousands of
people to Chula Vista's Third Avenue Viliase: attracts more than ]00 parade entrants from
marching bands, school entries, communin entries. and beautiful floats to promore the holida��
season: and
V2HEREAS, these communih e�ents attract participants from throuehout the count�� and
promote shops, restaurants, recreational and cultural activities in the Cit} of Chula Vista; and
�'HEREAS. HarborFest 201� and the Starlight Parade 201� activities are supported in
part from erants. sponsorships, e��ent fees, and ticket sales; and
V�'HEREAS, the Counri� of San Diego Communit� Enhancement Proeram pro��ides
funding for non-profit corporations or eorernmendpubiic aeencies for cenain specified purposes;
and
�1%HEREAS. the Citv of Chula Vista �i�ants to file an application N�ith the Counri� of San
Dieeo for Communitv Enhancement Program fundins.
N0�4'. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED b�� the Cit�� Council of the Citv of Chula
Vista. that it
1. Approve Sponsorship of HarborFest 201� and the Starlisht Parade. and
2. Authorize the filina of an application for a �2�,000 Communitv Enhancement
Grant from the Count}� of San Dieeo and appro��e the requisite Resolution
pro��ided b}� the Countv, and
Resolution No. 201�-036
