HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1953-1401 a • RESOLUTION NO. 1401 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AUTHORIZING COUNTY TO COLLECT UNSECU.ED PROPERTY TAX FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 195 -1954 • Whereas Ordinance No. 467 of the City of Chula Vista, duly adopted on the 21st day of January, 1953, transferred the duties of assessment and tax collection for the City of Chula Vista to the County Assessor and County Tax Collector beginning with the fiscal year 1953-1951; and Whereas a copy of said Ordinance No. 467 is attached here- to and by this reference made a part hereof; and Whereas Ordinance No. 457 of the City of Chula Vista, a copy of which is attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, duly established the rate of tax to be levied on all the taxable property in the City of Chula Vista for the fiscal year 1952-1953 ; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA does hereby RESOLVE as follows: ` ` That the County of San Diego:actIng by and through its appropriate officers, be, and ,it is hereby, authorized to collect taxes levied for the fiscalyyear 1953-1954'-upon all taxable un- secured personal property within the City of Chula Vista, and that such tax collection be at the rate established by said Ordinance No. 457. • • 4: a• ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, this 27th de' of January ,19 5 by the following vote, to--1dt: AYES: COUNCILMEN Half ertz,,,Rie slandt Hobe]. DATED: City Clerk by Deputy „t yl,i3l q. • c'4• � ORDINANCE No. 467 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CirY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSING OF PROPERTY AND COLLECTING OF TAXES BY THE COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Duties of assessment and tax collection for the City of Chula Vista, provided by law to be performed by the City Clerk as ex-officio Assessor and the Finance Office of the City of Chula Vista are hereby transferred,to the County Assessor and the County Tax Collector of the County of San Diego. Such assessment and tax collection shall be performed by said County Assessor and said County Tax Collector, beginning with the fiscal year 1953--1954, and shall continue for each succeeding fiscal year thereafter until the City of Chula Vista shall by ordinance elect not to have such duties performed by said 'County Assessor and County Tax Collector, all of which is in accordance with an permitted by Sections 51500 to 51519, inclusive, of the Government Code of the State of California and by Section 502 of the Charter of the City of Chula Vista. SECTION 2. All taxes so levied an0 collected by the County of San Diego shall be paid by warrant of the County Auditor to the finance officer of the City of Chula Vista, subject to Section 3 hereof. , SECTION 3• The amount of compensation to be charged and paid to the County of San Diego for the performance of the services of assessing and collecting taxes for the City of Chula Vista shall be fixed by agreement between the Board of Supervisors of San Diego County and the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, provided not more than one (1%) percent be charged for collecting the first $25,000.00 so collected and not more than one-fourth of one percent ( ) for all sums over that amount. The Auditor of the County of San Diego is hereby authorized to deduct said compensation from taxes collected under this Ordinance. -1. v e# L SECTION 4. The City Clerk and the Finance Officer of the City of Chula Vista, respectively, shall continue to perform all duties to be performed by their offices under the laws of the State of California, the Charter of the City of Chula Vista, and the Ordinances of the City of Chula Vista other than the assessing of the city property and the collection of taxes. SECTION 5. The City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this Ordinance with the County Auditor on or before the first Monday of February following its adoption, and to serve certified copies of this Ordinance on the County Auditor, County Tax Collector and County Treasurer of the County of San Diego. SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be effective and be in force thirty- one days after the final passage thereof, and shAii, within fifteen (15) days after its final passage, be published once in the Chula Vista Star, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City of Chula Vista, California. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That there is here- by levied upon all the taxable pro- perty in the City of Chula Vista, California, for the fiscal year • 1952-1953 the following sums, to- wit: For the general government fund $1.00 on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed val- uation. For Parks and Recreation fund .255 on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation. For City Library fund .155 on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation. For Bond Interest and Redemp- tion fund .065 on each One Hun- dred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation. For Employee's Ret i r e m e n t Fund .1825 on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed val- • uation. For City Planning Fund .0625 on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation.
