Home My WebLink AboutReso 1990-15882 RESOLUTION NO. 15882 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AFFIRMING THE TRIAL TRAFFIC REGULATION FOR THE 35 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON ANITA STREET BETWEEN FRONTAGE ROAD AND THIRD AVENUE The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, on February 6, 1990, a trial traffic regulation establishing a speed limit of 35 mph on Anita Street between Frontage Road and Third Avenue was implemented pursuant to the provisions of Section 10.12.030 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code and 35 mph signs were posted on February 8, 1990; and WHEREAS, a Traffic and Engineering study, as required by State law, was conducted. which study showed 85th percentile speeds of 36, 37, 38 and 36 mph, respectively; and WHEREAS, Section 10.12.030 of the Administrative Code only allows a Trial Traffic Regulation to exist for eight months, at which time either a resolution affirming the Trial Traffic Regulation must be adopted or the Trial Traffic Regulation ceases to be effective; and WHEREAS, a new speed survey study indicates the 85th percentile speeds are now 36, 40, 37, and 32 and it is, therefore, staff's recommendation that the 35 mph regulations be made permanent; and WHEREAS, the Safety Commission, at their meeting of September 20, 1990, voted 5-0 to accept staff's recommendation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby affirm the trial traffic regulation for the 35 mph speed limit on Anita Street between Frontage Road and Third Avenue.
