I�TECESSARY TO SECURE GRANT FUt�'DS AND
ACCEPTIi�'G THE TERI�4S OF THE GRANT AGREEn4ENT
�VHEREAS, 53 million of TransNet funding for capital and non-Acti��e Transportation
Grant Proeram projects is a��ailable to local jurisdictions and the Counn� of San Dieeo from
Fiscal 1'eazs 2014-2016: and
�L'"I-IEREAS, the Citv of Chula Vista ��ishes to recei��e �497,000 in Active Transportation
Grant Proeram funds for the Main Street Corridor Pedestrian Impro��ements; and
\�'HEREAS. the Cit�� of Chula Vista understands that the Acti��e Transportation Grant
Pro�ram fundine is fi�ed at the pro�rammed amount. and therefore Project cost increases that
e�ceed the �rant a���arded ���ill be the sole responsibilim of the grantee; and
�1�HEREAS, the City of Chula Vista agrees to complete the proposed Project �i-ithin a
timeh� manner and in compliance ���ith SAI�'DAG Board Policv No. 03�.
NO\4'. THEREFORE. BE [7 RESOL\'ED bv the Chula Vista Cit�� Council that the Cit��
of Chula Vista is authorized to submit an application to SA\'D.AG for the TransNet Active
Transportation Grant Proaram fundin2 in the amount of�497,000 for the n4ain Street Comdor
Pedestrian ]mprovements.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if a ?rant a�vard is made bv SANDAG to fund the
Main Street Corridor Pedestrian Impro��ements. the City of Chula Vista ��ill commit to pro��iding
�288.000 in matching funds from Transt�'et and authorize the Director of Public �4'orks to accept
the grant funds. execute the erant agreement with no exceptions in substantiall}� the same form as
attached to staff report, and complete the Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cim of Chula Vista a�ree to indemnif��. hold
harmless, and defend SANDAG, the San Dieeo Count�� Re�ional TranspoRation Commission.
and all officers and emplo}�ees thereof asainst all causes of action or claims related to the Cit�- of
Chula Vista's Trans\`et funded projects�
