HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1986/07/15 Item 14 COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT Item 14 Meeting Date 7/15/86 ITEM TITLE: Resolution /2e7 Accepting bids and awarding contract for "Placement of Asphalt Concrete Overlay (1985-86 Program) at Various Locations in the City of Chula Vista,/California" / SUBMITTED BY: Director of Public Works/City Engineer 4/1/ REVIEWED BY: City Manage( (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X ) At 2 p.m. on July 2, 1986, in Conference Room 5 in the Public Services Building, the Director of Public Works/City Engineer received sealed bids for "Placement of Asphalt Concrete Overlay (1985-86 Program) at Various Locations in the City of Chula Vista, California. " Funds for this project were included in the 1985-86 budget. The work includes placement of a 1-1/2 to 2-inch thick asphalt concrete overlay on top of a non-woven pavement reinforcing fabric, removal of alligatored pavement areas and replacement with asphalt concrete, asphalt concrete leveling course, PCC cross gutter, PCC alley-type driveways, adjustment of manholes, replacement of traffic signal loops, and traffic control . RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council accept bids and award contract to R. E. Hazard Contracting Company-San Diego in the amount of $248,739. 10. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: Bids were received from two contractors as follows: 1 . R. E. Hazard Contracting Company-San Diego $248,739.10 2. Daley Corporation-San Diego $249,603.00 The low bid by R. E. Hazard Contracting Company was below the Engineer' s Estimate of $270,006.50 by $21 ,267.40, or 7.9%. We have reviewed the bid and believe it to be satisfactory and recommend awarding the contract to R. E. Hazard Contracting Company. Attached is a copy of the Contractor' s Disclosure Statement.
