On October 14, 1985, the Board of Appeals and Advisors held a public hearing
on the adoption of the National Electrical Code, 1984 Edition. No objections
were presented either orally or written.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: That Council put the ordinance on its
first reading.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: The Board of Appeals and Advisors
recommend adoption of the National Electrical Code, 1984 Edition.
DISCUSSION:
All of the political jurisdictions in San Diego County are in the process of
adopting the National Electrical Code, 1984 Edition. The Building Standards
Commission of the State of California has also approved the National
Electrical Code, 1984 Edition as the electrical Standards for the State of
California. The Building Industry Association, the San Diego chapter of the
American Institute of Architects and the Electrical Contractors Association
through their respective representatives at the monthly meeting of the San
Diego Area Chapter, International Conference of Building Officials, endorses
the adoption of the National Electrical Code, 1984 Edition.
The adoption of the National Electrical Code, 1984 Edition is in conformance
with the City Council Policy 500-04 adopted by Resolution 5656 which endorses
the establishment of Uniform Building Regulations in the jurisdiction in San
Diego County.
There has been no major changes to the National Electrical Code, 1984
Edition. The minor changes incorporate new materials and new methods of
construction.
