RECOMMENDATION: That Council accept the bids and award the contract to Western Emul si ons. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: Five vendors were mailed bid proposal forms, with two submitting the following bids: TOTAL BID BASED BIDDER PRICE PER TON ON EST. USAGE Western Emulsions, Escondido $138.00 $48,300 Sim J. Harris Co. , San Diego $153.00 53,550 The bid of Western Emulsions meets specifications and it is the recommendation of the Director of Public Works/City Engineer that the contract be awarded to this company. The material will be used for the street chip sealing program which will be completed by the end of September. The estimated usage is 350 tons and will be delivered to the City yard. The FY 1985-86 price per ton was $168.00, FY 84-85 was $176.85 and FY 83-84 was $179.73. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are provided for in the Gas Tax Fund.
