RECOMMENDATION: That City Council accept bids and award contract to Asphalt, Inc. - El Cajon, CA in the amount of $234,381 .28. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: Bids were received from two contractors as follows: $234,381 .28 1 . Asphalt, Inc. - El Cajon 264 788.88 2. California Pavement Maintenance Co. , Inc. - San Diego The low bid by Asphalt, Inc. was above the Engineer's estimate of $218,502.40 by $15,878.88 or 7.3%. We have reviewed the bid and Asphalt, Inc. 's qualifications to perform the work. We believe both to be satisfactory and recommend awarding the contract Attached is the copy of the contractor's disclosure statement. City crews are currently doing chip seals ando the Cantractore strets work,within the t detailed At the copletion of both the cost and quality comparison will performed.
