The term of the agreement is on a month-to-month basis and calls for termination when construction of the Girls' and Boys' Club facility on Oleander Avenue is completed. The Boys' Club and the City wish to amend the term of the agreement. RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council amend the lease agreement with the Boys' Club of Chula Vista. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: The Boys' Club facility at "I" Street and Fifth Avenue is located in the Town Centre II redevelopment area. Redevelopment of this area is expected to begin in the near future. The facility, therefore, will eventually have to be vacated to allow for this redevelopment. In amending the lease agreement, it is proposed to include a 90-day notice to vacate this site, thus allowing the Club sufficient time to relocate. It is also proposed to include a statement that the Boys' Club will not be responsible for paying demolition costs of the facility, should demoliton become necessary. The present agreement stipulates that the Boys' Club must vacate the premises once the Oleander facility is completed. However, the Parks and Recreation Department has no problem with allowing the Club to continue operating at the "I Street and Fifth Avenue site after completion of the Oleander facility. The Community Development Department feels that allowing this organization to continue to operate out of its present site after completion of the new facility would vacate pose no ensures that the property could redevelopment vacatplans. d aat The 90-day any time for to redevelopment purposes should the need arise.
