BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
The extension of Las Flores Drive North of "D" Street requires the removal of
alluvium deposits found within the Las Flores Canyon. Due to the removal
depth recommended by the project's Soils Engineer,
the existing sewer main now
serving this area of the City was planned to be removed and reconstructed. To
accomplish this and maintain sewer service to the area residents, a temporary
sewer highline bypass was proposed as a part of the project.
As the removal and recompaction of the alluvium deposit progressed, it became
apparent that the depth of removal would be considerably less than originally
recommended by the Soils Engineer. This made is possible to keep the existing
sewer main in service while the grading operation is accomplished. We,
therefore, have negotiated a change order with the contractor whereby the
temporary sewer line yr will be
raised to deleted from the c
grade as the roadbed fidlltis is sewer manholes will be
The deletion of the temporary sewer line decreases the contract by $28,000.
The adjustment of the existing manholes will be performed at an increase in
the contract for $9,240.00 ($2,310 per manhole) . The net decrease to the
contract due to this change order is $18,760 ($28,000 less $9,240).
FISCAL IMPACT: The contract will be decreased by $18,760 to $1 ,178,066.00.
