Resolution Approving Agreement with National City for Use of the Chula Vista Animal Shelter B. National City now desires to renew this agreement for the current fiscal year. The City of Imperial Beach contacted City staff requesting a similar shelter agreement which is now being brought forward for your approval . RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve these agreements. DISCUSSION: In developing the service fees for National City and Imperial Beach, the formula is based on an estimate of the number of animals each jurisdiction brings into the shelter , and this number is applied as a percentage against the cost to operate the shelter for Fiscal Year 1987/88 as follows: Animals Percentage Cost To Proposed Brought of Maintain Annual into Shelter Total Shelter Fee Chula Vista 2, 883 59% $112° 176 N/A National City 1 , 280 26% 112, 176 $29, 165 Imperial Beach 720 15% 112, 176 16, 826 The 87/88 shelter budget includes an additional Kennelman to handle the increase in workload. The fees we charge Imperial Beach plus the increase in National City fees will cover the cost of this new position. This new position will provide staff with the opportunity to open the Shelter to the public all day on Saturday, as opposed to the current half-day schedule. The new position will also allow the enior Animal Control Officer more time for field supervision . Item 7a , b Meeting Date : 7/21/87 The contract with Imperial Beach will start on August 1 , 1987.
