HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1987/07/14 Item 27 COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT Item 27 Meeting Date 7/14/87 ITEM TITLE: Resolution /3/93 Accepting bids and awarding contract for "Placement of Asphalt Concrete Overlay (1987-88 Program) on Various Streets in the City of Chula yista, California" SUBMITTED BY: Director of Public Works/City Engineer REVIEWED BY: City Manager (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X ) At 2:00 p.m. on July 7, 1987, in Conference Rooms 2 and 3 in the Public Services Building, the Director of Public Works/City Engineer received sealed bids for "Placement of Asphalt Concrete Overlay (1987-88 Program) on Various Streets in the City of Chula Vista, California." The work includes the removal of alligatored pavement areas and replacement with asphalt concrete, placement of pavement reinforcing fabric, placement of 1 -1/2 in. thick asphalt concrete overlay, adjustment of manholes, replacement of traffic signal loops and traffic control . RECOMMENDATION: That Council accept the bids and award contract to Daley Corporation in the amount of $456,075. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: Bids were received from two contractors as follows: BIDDER AMOUNT 1 . Daley Corporation - San Diego $456,075.00 2. R. E. Hazard Contracting Co. - San Diego $471 ,354.70 The low bid by Daley Corporation is below the engineer's estimate of $522,124.10 by $66,049.10 or 12.7%. We have reviewed the low bid and believe it to be satisfactory and recommend awarding the contract to Daley Corporation. Attached is a copy of the Contractor's Disclosure Statement. FINANCIAL STATEMENT Funds Available from the Following Accounts: a. Pavement Overlay FY 1988 - City $410,700.00 b. Pavement Overlay FY 1988 - Montgomery 56 ,800.00 Total Funds Available $576,500.00 Funds Required for Construction: a. Contract Amount $456,075.00 b.
