HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1987/07/14 Item 14 COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT Item 14 Meeting Date 7/14/87 ITEM TITLE: Resolution ' 3i3C Authorizing the Department of General Services of the State of California to purchase eleven (11 ) compact sedans SUBMITTED BY: Director of Financed( REVIEWED BY: City Manager (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X ) The FY 1987-88 budget includes funds for the purchase of eleven (11 ) compact sedans. Council Resolution No. 6132 authorizes the City to participate in a cooperative bid with the State of California for the purchase of the vehicles. The procedure requires the adoption of a resolution designating the State as its Purchasing Agent in making the purchase. A service charge of 1 percent of the total before taxes is required for each transaction. Chrysler Corporation was awarded the State contract for 1987 model sedans on December 1986. They have extended the ordering period to the end of July 1987 and will furnish 1988 models at the 1987 vehicle prices. RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt the resolution. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: The Equipment Replacement Fund as approved by Council provides for the replacement of eight (8) sedans. For each vehicle purchased, one (1 ) vehicle will be removed from service and sold at auction. The Police Department Investigations Division budget provides for three (3) new vehicles. The following vehicles will be purchased: EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT FUND Police - Auxiliary Services Police - Patrol Police - Investigations (3) Building & Housing Engineering - Inspection Administration (pool car) GENERAL FUND Police Investigations (3) Page 2, Item 14 Meeting Date 7/14/87 FISCAL IMPACT: Purchase cost for the eleven (11 ) sedans is $91 ,746.21 based on State contract prices. This amount includes a 1 percent State service charge.
