Ordering the City Engineer to prepare and file a report for EastLake Maintenance District No. 1 for Fiscal Year 1987-8 8 SUBMITTED BY: Director of Public Works/City Engineer , REVIEWED BY: City Manager" (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X ) Last year, the maintenance district was formed for the landscaping maintenance and lighting within the street rights-of-way and easements adjacent to said rights-of-way in EastLake. It is now time to renew the assessment district for the next fiscal year. This resolution, in accordance with the Streets and Highways Code, begins the process of renewal . RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt the subject resolution ordering the City Engineer's report for renewing the EastLake Maintenance District No. 1 . BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: The EastLake Maintenance District No. 1 Assessment District was formed last year to pay the costs of maintenance of the landscaping and energy for street lighting. According to Article 4, Chapter 1 , Part 2, "Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972", being Division 15, Part 2 of the California Streets and Highways Code, the City Engineer is to prepare and file a report to begin the renewal process for the assessment district each year. After adoption of this resolution, the City Engineer will have the report prepared for Council 's consideration and approval and setting of a date for a public hearing. The Council will then hold the public hearing to consider the confirmation of the assessments. FISCAL IMPACT: The cost of re-spreading the assessments will be absorbed by the property owners as the charges will be included in the assessments.
