ITEM TITLE: Resolution Accepting bids and awarding contract
for traffic signal controllers

Bids were received and opened at 4:00 p.m. on May 29, 1987, in the Office of
the Purchasing Agent for the purchase of nine (9) traffic signal controllers
and cabinets.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt resolution awarding contract to
Safetran Traffic Systems Inc.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.

Bids were advertised and mailed to prospective vendors and three bids were
received.

The bid of Safetran Traffic Systems Inc. meets specifications and is
acceptable to the Director of Public Works/City Engineer.

FISCAL IMPACT: The total cost is $54,402.80. Funds are provided for several traffic
signal projects, such as Max/Orange, Hilltop/Quintard, Second/Orange, etc . Ordering
this equipment in advance of bidding some of these projects will prevent delays of
time-sensitive projects such as Max/Orange, and Auburn/East "H" Street.
