ITEM TITLE: Resolution 7 Authorizing Waiver of Bicycle Licensing Fees
for Participants in the All-City Bicycle Rodeos

The Third Annual "Bicycle Rodeo" program has been scheduled for the current
calendar year. The Chula Vista Police Department and the City's Safety
Commission are currently in the process of planning this year's rodeos.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the Resolution to waive bicycle licensing fees to all participants
during the four scheduled Bicycle Rodeos.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Concur with Safety Commission recommendation.
DISCUSSION:
Ordinance No. 2109 has previously authorized the waiving of bicycle license
fees for events such as the annual "Bicycle Rodeos" sponsored by the Chula
Vista Police Department. This year's "Bicycle Rodeos" are scheduled for
Saturday, May 2, 1987 at Rice Elementary School, on Saturday, May 9, 1987 at
Hilltop Drive Elementary School, on Saturday, May 16, 1987 at Loma Verde
Elementary School and on Saturday, May 30, 1987 at Tiffany Elementary School.

ITEM TITLE: RESOLUTION 4 M/Approving the model for the Nature Interpretive
Center Sculpture

The approved Nature Interpretive Center construction plans included a sculpture
in the center of the access road cul-de-sac. The Nature Interpretive Center
Architect will present a model of the proposed sculpture at the meeting.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Council approve the model for the Nature Interpretive
Center sculpture.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: The Design Review Committee at its meeting
of April 16, 1987 noted that the sculpture was appropriate for the site.
DISCUSSION:
The planned opening date for the Nature Interpretive Center is July 4, 1987.
Approval of the proposed sculpture for the access road cul-de-sac is being
sought at this time so that it can be fabricated and installed prior to the
official opening of the Nature Interpretive Center.
FISCAL IMPACT: The $5,000 for this sculpture has already been set aside in
the Nature Interpretive Center interior exhibits budget.
