Due to the nature of these encroachments, the permit must be approved by the City Council . RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt the subject resolution authorizing the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to issue the encroachment permit. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: McMillin Development applied for an encroachment permit by letter dated January 29, 1987, to construct one monument-type identity sign on the southeast corner of Corral Canyon Road and Coltridge Lane and a similar sign identifying the entrance to the City park on the southwest corner. The signs are to built of stucco over slump stone with a low planter area in front of the signs. The sign on the southeast corner will identify the entrance to McMillin' s "Colton Trails" project (part of Bonita Long Canyon, Unit III). The sign on the southwest corner will be similar except that it will identify the entrance to the City parksite being developed at that location. If the encroachment is approved, it is proposed that City Department of Parks and Recreation crews will maintain the planter area (approximately 158 square feet) in the parksite. The Director of Parks and Recreation has indicated agreement with this propsal . The other planter (approximately 80 square feet) will be maintained by the Open Space Maintenance contractor for the City. The maintenance of the monument signs will be the responsibility of the applicant, McMillin Development. The Planning staff has reviewed the plans for the locations and construction of the signs and concurs with the proposal . The proposed sign locations are such that the sight distance at the corners are not affected. Page 2, Item 7 Meeting Date 3/10/87 A similar encroachment was approved by Council in February of 1984.
