HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1987/03/03 Item 7 COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT Item 7 Meeting Date 3/3/87 ITEM TITLE: Resolution „0,7,/ Accepting contract work, "Sewer lateral rerouting in the Country Club area in the City of Chula Vista, California" SUBMITTED BY: Director of Public Works/City Engineer REVIEWED BY: City Manager (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X ) On July 8, 1986, the City Council by Resolution No. 12570 awarded the contract for "Sewer lateral rerouting in the Country Club area in the City of Chula Vista" to Fuller' s Plumbing Service. The work is now completed. RECOMMENDATION: That council approve a resolution accepting the contract work. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: Fuller' s Plumbing Service completed the sewer lateral rerouting in the Country Club area on February 20, 1987. A final inspection was made on February 20, 1987, and all work was found to be completed in accordance with the contract plans and specifications. The work was accomplished to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. It should be noted that this contract is the second of a two-phased commitment to rebuild the sewerage system in the Country Club area of the City. The first phase included the construction of (1) the sewer mains within the area' s public street rights-of-way and (2) the sewer laterals from the main to property line. The first phase contract work was accepted by Council on August 12, 1986, by Resolution No. 12667. The contract with Fuller' s Plumbing provided for the construction of rerouted sewer laterals from the house connection to the street at property line. The laterals built per this contract are entirely within private property. It is, therefore, the responsibility of the individual property owner to maintain the sewer lateral . The work is now completed. RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve a resolution accepting the contract work. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: Daley Corporation completed the reconstruction of "G" Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue on February 10, 1987. A final inspection was made on February 16, 1987, and all work was found to be completed in accordance with the contract plans and specifications and to the satisfaction of the City Engineer.
