HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1990-15722 RESOLUTION NO. 15722 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AUTHORIZING THE INITIATION OF THE LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS FOR THE CITY ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY INVOLVED IN THE TELEGRAPH CANYON ROAD WIDENING AND DRAINAGE CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista desires to initiate proceedings pursuant to the Cortese-Knox Local Governmental Reorganization Act of 1985, Division 3, commencing with Section 56000 of the California Government Code, for a partial determination within a Special Study Area of Chula Vista's Sphere of Influence, and the subsequent annexation of, a certain 68.3 acre area of land from unincorporated San Diego County to Chula Vista; and WHEREAS, the territory proposed to be annexed is uninhabited, and a description of the boundaries of said territory is set forth in Exhibits B & C, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Clerk; and WHEREAS, this proposal is not consistent with the adopted sphere of influence for Chula Vista; and WHEREAS, the reason for this proposed partial Special Study Area determination and annexation is as follows: That certain widening and drainage improvements are in process for an existing city street, and those improvements lie within the unincorporated territory of San Diego County, and it is necessary for the improvement area to be within Chula Vista's jurisdiction for the administration of construction approvals and acceptances, and facilities maintenance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby authorize the initiation of LAFCO proceedings for the City annexation of territory involved in the Telegraph Canyon Road widening and drainage channel improvements.
