HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1990-15710 NOT APPROVED RESOLUTION NO. 15710 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING THE MONTGOMERY SPECIFIC PLAN (GPA-88-2M) The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, Pacific Scene, Inc. submitted an application to amend the Montgomery Specific Plan by redesignating 12.2 acres located south of Palomar Street, west of Broadway and east of existing Metropolitan Transit Development Board (MTDB) station from "Research and Limited Industrial" to "Mercantile and Office Commercial" (GPA-88-2M), and WHEREAS, City prepared an Environmental Impact Report (EIR-89-4M with Addendum) to address the environmental affects of the proposed amendment to the Montgomery Specific Plan, and WHEREAS, the proposed amendment of the Montgomery Specific Plan was reviewed by City staff, the Montgomery Planning Committee and the Chula Vista Planning Commission, and WHEREAS, the City Council considered the proposed amendment of the Montgomery Specific Plan during the noticed public hearings on May 8, 1990, and June 5, 1990, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista hereby approves the amendment of the Montgomery Specific Plan from "Research and Limited Industrial" to "Mercantile and Office Commercial" as particularly described in application GPA-88-2M, based upon the following findings: 1. The location of the property on Palomar Street, adjacent to an existing MTDB station, provides a significant opportunity for retail operations which will benefit residents of the community. 2. Development of the property in an integrated architectural manner will provide an attractive gateway to the Montgomery area. 3. The development of retail use on the site will provide significant revenues to the City of Chula Vista. Resolution No. 15710 Page 2 4. The subject property is more oriented to the retail commercial uses along Palomar Street, rather than the industrial uses south of the San Diego Gas & Electric Easement.
