RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA APPROPRIATING FUNDS; TRANSFERRING FUNDS; ACCEPTING
BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR "CONSTRUCTION OF DRAINAGE
IMPROVEMENTS AT END OF WELTON AVENUE WEST OF FIFTH
AVENUE IN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA"
WHEREAS, at 2:00 p.m. on October 21, 1992, in Conference Room 2 in the
Public Services Building, the Director of Public Works received the following
seven sealed bids for "Construction of Drainage Improvements at the end of Welton
Avenue west of Fifth Avenue in the City of Chula Vista, California":
I. Basile Construction Company, San Diego $36,425.89
2. Superior Ready Mix, San Diego 40,816.45
3. Pacific 17, Inc., San Diego 44,861.03
4. Ca:rolyn E. Scheidel, La Mesa 49,736.00
5. Caves, Inc., San Diego 50,140.00
6. Granite Construction Company, San Diego 64,317.60
7. Sim J. Harris, San Diego 65,400.00
WHEREAS, work includes removal and disposal of existing improvements, saw
cutting, placement of asphalt concrete and processed miscellaneous base, traffic
control, install 6 ft. high chainlink fence, manhole adjustment, curb and gutter,
12-inch PVC pipe, 5 ft. curb inlet, construction surveying, driveways and
protection and restoration of existing improvements; and,
WHEREAS, the low bid by Basile Construction Company is below the engineer's
estimate of $42,073.50 by $5,647.61 or 13.4~, however, inadequate funds remain
in the project account to award this contract with an additional $33,433 being
required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista does hereby accept said seven bids for the construction of drainage
improvements at end of Welton Avenue west of Fifth Avenue in the City of Chula
Vista and does hereby award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Basile
Construction Company in the amount of $36,425.89, known as document number C092-
174, a copy of which is on file in the office of City Clerk, who has assured the
City that they are a licensed contractor in the State of California who can
produce an acceptable performance bond.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista is hereby
authorized and directed to execute said contract for and on behalf of the City
of Chula Vista.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby appropriate
$20,000 from the unappropriated balance of the Residential Construction Tax Fund
to DR110 - Crested Butte, Welton-Broadway, Drainage.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby transfer from the
fol l owing accounts to the Welton/Crested Butte Drainage Project Account - DR110:

Vista, California, this 24th day of November, 1992, by the following vote:
