Board of Directors,
What experience or special knowledge could you bring to this position?
My professional career includes 18 years in real estate, development and investment services, 17+
in local and state elected offices representing Chula Vista, 6 years communiry-related work for
nonprofit agencies, and many years of volunteer service on numerous public and private boards and
commissions. All of that experience is related directly to the duties of a Chula Vista Council member.
I would bring to the job firsthand, in-depth knowledge of municipal budgeting, the city and state
legislative processes, and, most important, an understanding of ow governmental decisions impact
the community and its residents.
What do you hope to accomplish as a Councilmember?
A City Council member is one of five architects of the city's future. It is critical that those five
architects work together as a team on behalf of a shared vision, not separete designers each going
their own way to develop their own dream. My goal is to work collaboratively to help build a family
friendly community that offers opportunity for all its residents and all its businesses to prosper and
that promotes the highest quality of life. Implementation of the Bayfront plan, developing a university
campus, enhancing the arts and community programs, economic revitalization of western Chula
Vista, and the promotion of greater economic development in the city are all part of those broader
goals.
I understand that, if appointed, I will not be able to run for City Council or Mayor in the City of Chula Vista
