HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1960-2481 RESOLUTION NO.. 2481 RESOLUTION FINDING IT IMPRACTICAL TO UNDERGO COMPETITIVE BIDDING A SECOND TIME FOR PROCUREMENT • OF SIX (6) PORTABLE GRAPHIC TRAFFIC COUNTERS WHEREAS, under Bid No© 48-1959-60 the City of Chula Vista, on June 9, 1960, went to official bid to procure six portable graphic traffic counters to count and record vehicular traffic and contacted seven vendors,, including possible vendors in New York City and State, in Chicago and the State of Illinois and in California without receiving any bid upon such invitation, and WHEREAS, the Engineering Department of the City of Chula Vista states that no other manufacturer than the Econolite Corporation of Los Angeles manu- factures for public consumption a traffic counter that records the volume of vehicular traffic in graphic form, and WHEREAS, upon inquiry by the Purchasing Agent, Mr. R. W. Cheyney, District Traffic Engineer of the State Highway Division of the State of California stated that he knew of no other manufacturer than the Econolite Corporation who manufactured a traffic counter for public sale that constructed a graph- ical record of vehicular traffic, despite considerable recent research into the matter of traffic counters, and • WHEREAS, the Econolite Corporation have stated that the Corporationss fail- ure to bid on Bid No. 48195960 was an" oversight and that the Corporation will furnish the City of Chula Vista with the desired counters subject to the specifications of the above bid for the individual price of,e, 518.20 or the total price of $ 3,233.57 , including State Sales Tax, and WHEREAS • Section 4 of City Ordinance No. 159 permits the City Council, by resolution expressed in its official minutes to declare competitive bidding • impractical. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista because of the recitation of the above facts and because of the unnecessary extra expense to the City, finds further competitive bidding for procurement of six portable graphic traffic counters impractical and directs purchase of same from the Econolite Corporation on prices and con- ditions stated above. • .l •ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, this 5th day of July, 1960 by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN Pgaraaf.
