Assistant City Attomey Maland presented in(ormation on the item. She and City Atlomey Googins answered Council questions regarding the selection o/Districting Commission members. Clry o/C�ula Ysb Page 5 City Council Meeting Minutes- Final August 12, 2014 7. 14-0489 Consideration of authorizing the Mayor to work with staff to write and submit to the City Clerk direct arguments in favor of, and rebuttal arguments to any arguments against, the measures placed on the November 4, 2014 ballot by the City Council 1) Amending Chula Vista Charter Sections 1009 (Regarding Public Works Contracting), and 1010 and 1011 (Regarding City Contracting Generally); and 2) Amending Chula Vista Charter Section 303 Related to Filling Council Vacancies. (Placed on the agenda by the City Attorney and City Clerk) In response to a question from Councilmember Salas, City Attomey 600gins stated that there would not be a legal conFlict d multiple members o/ the Council participated in writing the arguments related to the ballot measures. Councrlmember Bensoussan announced the HarborFest event on August 16, 2014 and stated the2 would be meetings for volunteers on August 14 and 15, 2014. Councilmember Ramirez thanked City Manager Halbert for his supporf o1 large community events, such as the Starfight parade. He also 2quested City Manager Halbert consider a futu2 Council workshop on issues related to homelessness in the City. Councilmember Ramirez provided an update on the elforts of the Yes We Can community group to address alcohol-2lated issues at the Sleeptrain Amphitheate� and suggested a tasMorce comprised of sta(f from the Police Department be assigned fo woAc with the group. He also spoke in suppoR of public outreach and education on the City's social host ordinance. Councilmember Ramirez also provided a report on his August public office hours on the topic of the future of the Olympic Training Center operafions. Mayor Cox provided an update of the tasMorce, comprised o! herself and Deputy Mayor Aguilar, which had worked wrth the Yes We Can community group to add2ss concems 2garding alcohol-related issues. City Attomey Googins spoke regarding the Districting Commission members. Councilmember Salas acknowledged the work of Councilmember Bensoussan on HarborFesf and her support o/ local theater groups. She also announced the upcoming Train Fest on August 30, 2074. Councilmember Salas also provided an update on the work of the wate�taskfo�ce. Mayor Cox paid tribute to Dorothy 'Dottie"Helm. Mayor Cox announced that the Council would convene in closed session to discuss the items listed below. Mayor Cox recessed the meeting at 3�35 p.m. The Council reconvened in Closed Session at 3:40 p.m.. with all members present. ACTION: The City Council voted 5-0 to approve an interim settlement agreement for reimbursement of successor agency costs. A copy of the agreement is available upon request.
