Robert Solomon, Chu/a Vista resident, expressed concem regarding non-commercial sign placement in
Chula Vista.
Ella Crosh�er, Coronado resident, expressed concem regardmg a tree on City propeRy adjacent to her

CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS
City Manager Sandova/ reported on the City's partnership with Southwestem Co//ege's GIS program and
that Southwestem Col/ege had nominated the City's GIS Manager, Bob Blackwelder, /or a national
award. He also announced an upcoming celebration on May 14, 2014 of the Citys installafion of solar
equipment

Mayor Cox announced the followmg upcoming events Chula Vista Commun�ty Fun Run on May 17,
2074, and the Padres'Chula Vista Community Senes at Petco Park.
COUNCILMEMBERS' COMMENTS
Councilmember Bensoussan announced The San Diego Foundafion's Give Big San Diego Day, a
fundraise� held on May 6, 2014 She acknowledged individuals and organizahons that partiapated m the
recent Immigration Forum.
Councilmember Ramirez reported on his �ecent pub6c office hours on the topic of the Jackson Place
Luxury Apartments pro/ect and sfated members o/ the pub6c expressed concemed regarding the
proposed pro/ect. He spoke �n support of instaldng a trad system around the San Diego Country Club
golf course
Deputy MayorAgmlar repoRed on a Iorum she and Councdmember Salas held on water issues
At the request o/ Deputy Mayor Aguilar, there was consensus o/ the Council to add an item to fhe
Council agenda of May 20, 2014 to consider a resoNtion in support of AB 2104, fegarding water��cient
landscaping.
Deputy Mayor Aguilar spoke in support of granGng the Police OKcers' Association's request to give a
presenfation to the Council regarding budget issues Mayor Cox stafed that any organ¢ed group was
allowed a presenta6on o/up to 20 minutes on an item on the agenda

Counci/member Salas spoke �egarding the forum she and Deputy Ma}ror Aguilar held on the topic o(
water issues.
At the iequesl of Counci/member Salas, there was consensus of the Council to add an item to the May
13, 2014 agenda for Council consideration of an ad-hoc committee, consisting of herse/f and Deputy
Mayor Aguila� for the pwposes of continuing fo wodc on water issues and iden6fying oppoRun�ties to
bnng the presenta6on to the public.
Councilmembe� Bensoussan provided in(ortnafion on a past discussion regarding walking trails around
the San Diego Country Club.
Counci/membe� Ramirez spoke in support o/ an item to be added to a future agenda to allow for a
diabgue behveen the Police Officers'Association and lhe Council.
Ma}ror Cox announced that the Council would convene in closed session to discuss Items 70 through
72, listed below, and that Item 73 would not be heard.
At 4:33 p.m., the Council convened in Closed Session.
