' io _ CITY OF CHULA VISTA ITEM N0. , COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT' ' 3/z/6 FOR MEETING OF: __ ITEM TITLE Ordinance 160 Adding Sections to the Municipal Code Regulating the Construction and Erection of Signs SECOND P,EiDli`G AND ADOP_TION SUBMITTED BY Director of Building and Housing ITEM EXPLANATION At present we are using the Building Code requirements for the structural design of sign structures. Needless to say, these requirements create an over-design for signs. Because the Zoning Ordinance regulates the size, type and aesthetics of signs , we have taken only the structural design regulations out of the Uniform Sign Code, 1973 Edition, plus the clearances to High Voltage Lines , Fire Escapes, Exits and Fire Fighting Standpipes. The Board of Appeals and Advisors at their meeting of February 9, 1976 held a public hearing on adding the structural portion of the Uniform Sign Code, 1973 Edition to the Municipal Code.
