BACKGROUND
This ordinance was placed on first reading at the
meeting of February 19 , 1974 . It would approve
the annexation of 1 . 18 acres of land in order to
construct a City animal shelter.

9ACKGRGUND - "
- The City of Chula Vista proposes to annex 1 .18 acres of land in order to construct
a City animal shelter. The property was purchased" from the Chula Vista .City School
District on July 24, 1973. The Planning Corrunission recomnended approval of the
annexation_on September 12, 1973.- -The Local Agency Formation Comnission approved
the annexation and autfiorized the City to annex the property without notice or public
hearing by the City Council. in accordance with Government Code Section 54797 .1
ANALYSIS .
The property .is located adjacent to and south of Otay Valley Road and approximately
3/4 mile east of Interstate 805. Regarding the City's ability to provide services �
,- to tfiis property, the following departments have responded: �
l . Engineering Department - The sewer will have to be extended 1900 lineal feet �
,along_ Otay Valley Road. Water, power, .and telephone services are available on
. application.. Drainage and access are both adequate..
�2. - Fire Department - There will be no problem providing fire protection if a
fire hydrant is.located at the site and. if a .pressure test . is run on the water
main in Otay Valley Road.
3. Police Department - Providing police protection for the site will not be a
