REQ UESTED; Place Ordinance on first reading Copy of Resolutian � Ordinance ?�'. l�greeme�zt � Plat � attached BA CKGRDUND: ' The Electrical Contractors' Association has requested the San Diego Area Chapter of I.C.B.O. to try to establish a uniform sinplified method of determining electrical permit fees. The reason for this is so that anyone may determine N:hat the fee will be �,ithout requiring a journe��man electricia�i to go ' through the plans. The L C.B.O. has proposed a simplified method which has the sancYion of the Contractors' Association even though in some fe��• cases tlie f.ee is slightly higher. The Cities of 7mperial I3each, CarlsUad and La �fesa have no�a ' • adopted the fees. _ , It is the unanimous recommendation of the Board of Appeals that the .Cit�� Coimcil adopt an ordinance approving the ne�a electrical pennit £ees. On February S, 1972, Coimcil �onsidered this ordinance and at the request of the T:lectrical Contractors' Association postponed the hearing for t<<o weeks. - The increase in fces i;as agreed upon by representatives o£ _ _ . the Electrical Contractors' Association at a meeting on February 16, 1972. Box 3637 • 3956 First Avenue • SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA 92103 • 298-1183 �.�� February 22, 1972 City Council City of Chula Vista c/o City Clerk Chula Vista, California Gentlemen: The San Diego County Chapter, National Electrical Contractors Association has reviewed the proposed new electrical permit fee structure for the City of Chula Vista and herewith give it our approval and endorsement. � We feel this simplified method of calculation will benefit both City and contractors and appears to involve only a minimal over- all increase in fees. However, as this is a new concept of fee calculation, we would ask that a review of the fee experience be scheduled for 6 months or perhaps one year from date of adoption.
