HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2014-065 RESOLUTION NO. 2014-065 RESOLUTIOI�' OF THE CITl' COUI�'CIL OF THE CIT1' OF CHliLA VISTA I�40DIF1'II�'G THE APPEI�'DIX TO THE LOCAL CONFLICT OF II�'TEREST CODE TO ADD CHARTER REVlEW COMMISSION AI�TD DISTRICTII�'G COMMISSIOI�' MEMBERS TO THE LIST OF OFFICIALS WHO ARE REQUIRED TO FILE PERIODIC STATEMENTS OF ECOI�'On4IC INTERESTS WHEREAS, the Political Reform Act (Califomia Govemment Code §§87100 throueh 91014), requires certain officials and candidates to file Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700) and requires local eo��emment agencies to adopt and promuleate conflict of interest codes; and WHEREAS, the Ciq� Council adopted Ordinance No. 2807, adoptine b}� reference the standazdized conflict of interest code contained in Title 2 of the California Code of Regulations; §18730; and any amendments thereto that aze adopted by the Fair Political Practices Commission; and WHEREAS, the ordinance requires that the Cit}� Council set forth by resolution the officials and desianated employees «�ho are required to file statements of economic interests and the disclosure cateeories under ���hich each such official and designated employee shall file; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Go��emment Code �87306(a), ever�� local agency must amend its Conflict of Interest Code when chanee is necessitated by changed circumstances, includine the creation of ne��� positions which yinvolve the making or participatine in makine of governmental decisions; and VJHEREAS, the City Attorney and the City Clerk ha��e reviewed the Code and iis Appendi� followine the addition of the Districting Commission and the new duties assigned to the Charter Revie��� Commission, and determined that amendments to the Appendi� of the Code are necessar��: and V�'HEREAS; the list of officials. candidates and desi2nated employees of the Cit�� of Chula Vista w-ho aze required to file periodic statements of economic interests. and the disclosure catesories under �ahich each such official. candidate or desienated emplo}�ee is required to file, ti�as presented to the City Council and is attached hereto as Exhibit A and made a part of this Resolution. NOW:_ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED bv the City Council of the City of Chula Vista. that it herebv modifies the appendi� to the local Conflict of Interest Code to amend the list of officials. candidates and designated emplo�-ees �n�ho are required to file periodic statements of economic interests, and the disclosure cateeories for said filers, a cop�� of which is attached as Exhibit A to this Resolution, shall be kept on file in the Office of the Cit�� Clerk.
