S� AND H.R. 2�0 AND THE FRYIATGPAN-ARISANSAS FROJECTS AS PROPQSED IN S.3�0 AND H.R. Lt12, N6A PENDING IN CANGRESS. WF�EtEAS, increasing population, insiustrial growth and economic well- being of the City of Chula Vista in particular and the souther coastal plain in general depends upon Californi.a�s right£ul share of Colorado River vrater� and TTiHEREAS, this source o£ rrater, both in quantity az�d quality, is serious�y threatened by IIpper Colorado River Basin projects as proposed in S. 5� and ft.R. 270 and the �yingpan-Arkansas project as proposed in S. 300 and H.R. l�72� now pending in Congress� and �iHEREAS, the aforementioned projects would inflict on all taxpayers in this City and County and the Nation an ur�justifiable burden of more than four billion dollars, and . �PHEREAS, these political pump-pT-+m�ng schemes if authoriaed would furnish rrater to grow more surplus crops already heavi�q subsidized by the taxpayers, and i7F�F�A.S, the Colorado River Board o£ California, off7cial state agencp charged with the responsibilitp of safegnarding California�s existing contracts £or Colorado River water, has gone on record strong�jr opposing these measures. I�Ol7, THER�ORE, BE IT RE.AlVED that the City Council o£ the City of Chula Vista California respect£ully requests the representatives of the State of California in the Congress of the United States to actively oppose the enactment of these bills or any simi.lar proposals, and that certified copies of this resolution be air mailed to our Congressional representatives� and copies be made available to press and radio news sources.
