ORDINANCE NO. 1758
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING
' SECTION 19 . 60 . 310 OF CHAPTER 19. 60 OF THE CHULA
VISTA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO REGULATION OF
TEMPORARY SIGNS FOR PUBLIC AND QUASI-PUBLIC SPECIAL '
3 EVENTS
WHEREAS, the proposed zoning text amendment is categori-
cally exempt from environmental review as a class lla exemption.
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
ordain as follows : �
SECTION I : That Section 19. 60 . 310 of Chapter 19. 60 0£
the Chula Vista Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows :
Sec. 19. 60 . 310 Public and Quasi-Public Signs .
Churches, schools, community centers and any other
public or institutional building, in any residential or
agricultural zone, shall be allowed the following signs:
A. Churches: One zaall sign not to exceed thirty .
square feet in area and one bulletin board or .
announcement sign, not to exceed twenty-four
square feet in area and ten feet in height.
Any bulletin board or announcement sign not
attached flat against the building shall main-
tain a ten-foot setback from all streets .
B. Other public and quasi-public uses : One wall
sign, not to exceed thirty square feet 'in area .
and a bulletin board or announcement sign not
to exceed fi£ty square feet in area and twelve
feet in height. Any bulletin board or announce-
ment sign not attached flat against 'the building
shall maintain a ten-£oot setback from all streets .
C. Public and quasi-public special event signs:
1. Churches and other public and quasi-public
uses may request a permit for the temporary
use of a sign announcing a special event.
Wall or freestanding signs of paper, card-
board, plastic or fabric are permitted, pro-
vided that the Zoning Administrator finds
that the copy, color, and design of the sign
will not adversely affect the order, amenity,
• or residential enjoyment of the neighborhood
in which it is located.
2 . Special event signs shall be located on the
premises of the institution or organization
having the special event, and shall be not
more than five feet in height, nor contain
more than twenty-five square feet of sign
area. Freestanding signs shall maintain a
minimum ten-foot setback from any property
line abutting upon a street right of way.
One sign shall be allowed for each street
frontage.

3. Upon application for a permit, the applicant
shall submit a statement and diagram noting
the nature of the special event, and indi-
� cating the location, size , copy and colors
of the proposed sign. A permit for a special
event sign shall be valid for- seven consecu-
� tive days; and not more than six such permits
shall be issued to any one institution or
organization in a calendar year.
SECTZON ZI : This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force on the thirty-first day £rom and after its' passage and adoption.
