HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 1976-1680 � . � � � � � y x i � � . � � . � . : : . . . :, ORDINANCE NO. 1680 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING SECTIONS 5.20. 070 , SUBSECTION B, AND 5 .38 . 120 OF ' THE CHULA VISTA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO FEES FOR CARDROOM EMPLOYEE WORK PERMITS AND PAWNSHOP EMPLOYEE IDENTIFICATION CARDS .��= The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does ordain � as follows: ` SECTION I : That Sections 5 .20. 070 , Subsection �B, and � 5 .38. 120 of the Chula Vista riunicipal Code be , and the same are hereby amended to read as follows : � Sec. 5 . 20 .070 . ' VTork Permits Required - Application � Contents - Investigation Fee = Issuance - Period of Validity. • ` �1� . B. Employees in cardrooms must obtain a work permit from the Chief oP Police. Applications for , such work permits shall be submitted under oath and contain such information as may be deemed by the . Chief of Police to be necessary to determine whether ' the applicant is a proper person to be employed in a cardroom. No work permit shall be issued to any per- son who is not a citizen o£ the United States and who has not been a resident of the County of San Diego for at least one year. The Chief of Police may deny such cvork permit if, in his opinion, the applicant therefor should not be permitted to be employed in a cardroom. Each application for a work permit shall be accompanied by a fee of twenty dollars and said �- work permit, when issued, shall be valid for one year. A charge of five dollars shall be made for the renewal of any such permit. Sec. 5 .38. 120 . Pac•�nshop - Employee Identification Card Required. Every person who is to be employed by the owner of , a pawnshop in the conduct of. said business shall first file an application for an ic3entification card signed by said applicant with the Chief of Police. Said ap- plication shall show the following information: A. Permanent home address and full local address of the applicant; B. A photograph of the applicant, taken within sixty � days immediately prior to the date of the filing , of the application, which picture shall be two inches by two inches, showing the head and shoulders o£ the applicant in a clear and distinguishing manner; C. TThe fingerprints of the applicant; � _ 1 _ i . . � . . _ . _ ; . , D. A statement as to whether or not the applicant has ever been convicted of any crime or misdemeanor, and if so, the details in general o£ such convictions, and speci£ying the particular crimes or misdemeanors involved and the dates and places of such convictions. No person carrying on the business of a pawnbroker shall employ anyone who has not received such a police ' identi£ication card and such identi£ication card shall not be issued if the applicant is not of good moral character or shall have been convicted of a felony. A fee of three dollars and fifty cents shall be charged � for such identification card. � SECTION II : This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect on the thirty-first day from and after its adoption.
