RESOLIITION No. 345 , - -
„ PPHERPAS, the Railroad Commission .of. the State "of
California, will hold a hearing on or about W�dne'sday,

to which the said hearing may be ad�ourned or changed,

AND/OR OTHER POINTS WITHIN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIAn
in case Numbered 3153, before said Commission, and -
_ �. AIHEREAS', there is a discrimination against Chula .
Vista'_in the matter .of. minimum rates for natural gas;
- wh'ich is, .ia the. opinion of the City Council of Chula Vista,
,, unJust and .unPair to Chu1.a Vista, as follows, to-�rit: � .
- . By prior. order oP the Railroad Commission of the � �
" � State' of:California, th2re took effect .on or about Sept�mber
15, � 1932, rates �for natural gas; by which _order it was provided
� that in. the. City :oP San Diego, City of Natiottal� City and .
� City� of, Coronado, excepting ��Tent City°, thare should be . •
a minim� rate for natural� gas .of �1.0� gross and .��g :net
for the fiist two hundrsd cubic feet thareof,. and that in
_ the City of� Chula Vista the gross and net 'rat�s for the same .
minimum, or Por the� said first two hundrzd cubic Peet oP gas�
should be twenty-Pive, cents higher, to-ait, that the -gross _
. -should be $1.25 and the ,net_ should be � 1.15., and, � ,
WHEREAS; Chula _Vis.ta is close �.to the heart oY San Diego, •
. � and the tsrritorp lying betwsen it and San Diego, includes
� National �City and built up tsrritory, and that it is �ny miles
' closer from the heart of Chula Vista to the heart of San Diego'
than from certain parts oP San Diego to' the heart of San Diego.

AND WHEREAS, the City of. Chula Vista contains more than four
thousand inhabitants in an area of only six squara miles, or
less, and is as thickly populated as many portions of
San Diego, National City, Coronado, en�oying the lovrer
minimum rate, and . �
- 9r?HEREAS, many of the business men of San. Diego reside
in Chula Vista, and the life oP Chula Vista is as much bound
up with that oP San Diego as ths life of La Jolla, which is a
part of the City oP �San Diego, any�,many more miles distant
from ths heart of San Diego than is the City of Chula Vista�
N047, THEREFORE, the City Cotmcil of the said City of
Chula Vista, does hereby appoint and name 0. C. Ludwig� the
City Attorney of Chu1a Vista, as the attorney and representative
oP the said City of Chula Vista at th° said hearings .before
the said Railroad Commission of the State of. California, and
authorize hi.m to obtain for Chula Vista equal minimum ratas
� with the City of San Diego, and .to otnerwise rzprasent said
City of .Chula Vista at said hearings, and that this Resolution
be and is sufficient evidence of his authority, and that a
copy of �the Resolution be filed with the said Railroad Commission
and a copy be mailed to the City of National City, and one to
�
th� City oP Coronado, and one to the City of San Diego, be also
mailed.
Passed, addpt=d and approved this 14th day of December, ,
1932� by the .unanimous vote of the enti.re City Coimcil of
Chula Vista, in special session assembled.
