HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1995-17887 NOT APPROVED RESOLUTION NO. 17887 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA DECLARING THE CITY'S INTENTION TO TRANSFER SEWER BILLING FROM THE SWEETWATER AUTHORITY TO IN- HOUSE BILLING, APPROPRIATING ~29,940 FROM THE SEWER SERVICE REVENUE FUND FOR ADDITIONAL START-UP COSTS FOR IMPLEMENTING THE CHANGE IN BILLING SERVICE, AND AMENDING THE BUDGET TO ADD ONE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE ASSISTANT III TO THE PUBLIC WORKS/ENGINEERING SEWER SECTION WHEREAS, the City currently contracts with Sweetwater Authority to bill City of Chula Vista sewer service jointly with their water service; and, WHEREAS, during the past few years, Sweetwater Authority has notified the City that they intend to cease the joint billing arrangement; and, WHEREAS, while the City has been successful in postponing the date in the past, the current cutoff date is September 30, 1995; and, WHEREAS, it is necessary to finalize the steps for the City to take over the billing of the sewer customers now billed with water service by Sweetwater Authority and to bill the customers directly by the City; and, WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the FY 94-95 budget to add one Administrative Office Assistant III to the Public Works/Engineering Sewer Section. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby declare the City's intention to transfer sewer billing from the Sweetwater Authority to in-house billing starting October, 1995. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of ~29,940 is hereby appropriated from the Sewer Service Revenue Fund for start-up costs for equipment, supplies and services necessary to bill sewer customers. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby amend the budget to add one Administrative Office Assistant III to the Public Works/Engineering Sewer Section, with costs to the General Fund for the additional staff person, being reimbursed from the Sewer Service Revenue Fund.
