' GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY. JUIvE 3. �014 WZ-IEREAS, Section 13307 of the Elections Code of the State of Califomia provides that the eovemine bod� oF an�� local agenc}� ma�� require each candidate filine a statement to pay in advance his or her estimated pro rata share as a condition of having his or her statement included in the voters pamphlet. I�'OW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED b}� the City Council of the Cin� of Chula Vista as follows: SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 13307 of the Elections Code of the State of Califomia. each candidate for electi��e office runnine in the General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Chula Vista on Tuesda}�, June 3, 2014, may prepare a candidate's statement on an appropriate form provided by the City Clerk. The statement may include the name, age and occupation of the candidate and a brief description of no more than Z00 words of the candidate's education and qualifications expressed by the candidate himself or hersel£ The statement shall not include the party affiliation of the candidate nor membership or activin� in partisan political oreanizations. The statement shall be filed in the Office of the Cih� Clerk no sooner than Monday; Februan� 10; 2014 and no later than Friday; Mazch 7, 2014. The statement may be �vithdrati�n; but not changed, durine the stated period and until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Mazch 10, 2014. SECTIO\' 2. The Citv Clerk shall estimate the total cost of printine, handlin2, translating, and mailing the candidates' statements filed pursuant to the Elections Code, includin2 costs incurred as a result of comph�ing ���ith the Votine Riehts Act of 196� (as amended); and require each candidate filine a statement to pay in advance his or her estimated pro rata shaze as a condition of havine his or her statement included in the voter's pamphlet. The estimate is just an approaimation of the actual cost that varies from one election to another election and may be si2nificantly more or less than the estimate. Accordingh�, the Cit�� Clerk is not bound by the estimate and may; on a pro rata basis; bill each candidate for additional actual expense or refund am� excess paid dependine on the final actual cost. SECTIOI�' 3. The City Clerk shall provide each candidate, or the candidate`s representati��e. N�ith a copy of this Resolution at the time his or her nomination papers are issued. SECTIOI�' 4.
