RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA APPROVING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA AND THE CITY OF CHICAGO, ADMINISTRATORS
FOR A PUBLIC TECHNOLOGIES INCORPORATED GRANT, FOR
SERVICES RELATED TO TELECENTER RESEARCH AND
OPERATIONS, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING $25,000 TO
THE ENERGY CONSERVATION FUND TELECENTER BUDGET
AND HIRING AN INTERN III
WHEREAS, in pursuit of additional funding to help offset general Telecenter operations
and services costs, staff applied for a grant from Public Technology, Inc. (PTI) in the spring
of 1996; and
WHEREAS, PTI is a non-profit organization which operates as the "research and
development" division of the National League of Cities; and
WHEREAS, PT! represents and promotes progress ve and entrepreneurial city and
county government operations in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Chula Vista was one of nineteen local agencies that received funding from
PTI; and
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago entered into a cooperative agreement with the U. S.
Department of Energy to administer the grants for PTI; and
WHEREAS, staff is recommending approval of the contract with the City of Chicago.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does
hereby approve the Agreement between the City of Chula Vista and the City of Chicago,
administrators for a Public Technologies Incorporated grant, for services related to Telecenter
research and operations, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Clerk as Document
No. CO96-181.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista is hereby
authorized to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the City of Chula Vista.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby accept and appropriate
$25,000 from the Energy Conservation Find into Account 280-2802 as set forth n
Attachment 1.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said funding will also pay for staff which will include
one .05 FTE staff person at 40 hours per week for a total of 6 months, one .01 FTE Intern
Ill position at 8 hours per week for 6 months and some additional operational costs.
