Background
Need to improve movement of people
and goods along, across and adjacent
to the Interstate-5 corridor study area.

Initially prepared Interstate-5 Multi-modal Corridor
Study which evaluated a No Build and Seven
Concept Alternatives (1 to 7)
◦
On October 26, 2011, the SANDAG Board of
Directors adopted the 2050 Regional Transportation
Plan and incorporated the recommendations of the I-
5 Multi-modal Corridor Study (Concept Alternative 2)
◦
Rail corridor improvements were identified as the
highest priority for Chula Vista.
