HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1996-18419 RESOLUTION NO. 18419 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTAACCEPTING PROPOSALSAND AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR POLICE INITIATED TOWING AND STORAGE SERVICES TO ANTHONY'S TOWING, SOUTH BAY TOWING, PAXTON'S TOWING, AZ METRO TOWING AND J. C. TOWING WHEREAS, on March 7, 1995, Council authorized Police Department staff to design a competitive process to select providers of Police Initiated Towing and Impound Services; and WHEREAS, proposals were accepted on June 30, 1995, with twelve providers responding; and WHEREAS, the process used was designed to improve the tow services provided to consumers and the City while enhancing General Fund revenues through the implementation of a referral fee paid by tow companies under contract with the City; and WHEREAS, proposals were evaluated using a three-tier rating system to ensure that responses were in compliance with the specific requirements outlined in the request for proposal; and WHEREAS, staff recommends no more than five tow companies be approved by Council based on their capabilities as demonstrated in the Qualifying Phase and their ability to enhance General Fund revenues via their proposed Referral Fee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept proposals and award contracts for police initiated towing and storage with the following companies: Anthony's Towing, on file in the Clerk's office as Document No. CO96-141. Southbay Towing, on file in the Clerk's office as Document No. CO96-142. Paxton's Towing, on file in the Clerk's office as Document No. CO96-143. Metro Towing, on file in the Clerk's office as Document No. CO96-144. J. C. Towing, on file in the Clerk's office as Document No. CO96-145. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreements for and on behalf of the City of Chula Vista.
