Fitness circuit with 12 parcourse  stations Each station has one or two  exercises at each station including a climbing traverse, tire run, balance beam and log jump. Get Fit @ HTe •“The 5graders learned that many th children do not get the prescribed hours of exercise they require each day to be healthy.” •“Are you fitter than a 5grader?” th Hilltop Drive Elementary Playground Mural Before Hilltop Drive Elementary Playground Mural Date of Project: Dec. 1 to Dec. 12,  2012 Students at Hilltop Drive  Elementary School along with the help of parents and community volunteers worked together towards creating what once was a blank wall into a motivational piece of art Volunteers created two murals that  brought out a sense of pride and ownership within the school 37student, parent, and community  volunteers Hilltop Drive Elementary Playground Mural Theres a clear sign that “’ students, staff, teachers and parents love the school and all the efforts of beautifying our school. ” The Kindness Words painted on the Mural “ help the students remember to respect one another. ” Hilltop Drive Elementary Playground Mural Castle Park Neighborhood Improvement Project Date of Project: Feb. 23, 2013  Love Your block allowed the  community to come together for the common purpose of beautifying the Castle Park neighborhood. 2 neighbors and 8 volunteers  picked up trash, street sweeps, sidewalks, and pulling out weeds 50 pounds of litter collected  Castle Park Neighborhood Improvement Project This project “ brought 10 volunteers from Chula Vista, where we were able to Our group “ appreciate the was very sense of successful in community that not only these leaders picking up brought to the trash, but also streets of Castle conveying a Park. ” message of responsibility and community service. ” Palomar Community Garden Expansion Date of Project: Dec. 15, 2012  Families and members of the  community coming from different backgrounds and age groups came together for the common goal of expanding the Palomar Garden by constructing a waterfall bed 1 neighbors and 30 Volunteers  Assistance from a City community  garden representative Palomar Community Garden Expansion “Working in a community project that brings kids and teens in touch with people of different backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, age, and class can show how even the most diverse individuals can be united by common values.” Before “Clear sign that the community felt satisfaction and pride that come from helping others.” After Sweetwater Marsh Restoration Project Date of Project: Dec. 8. 2012  20 Neighbors 20 Volunteers  7 Organization/Businesses  (Chula Vista Yoga Center, West Marine –Chula Vista, Sprouts Farmers Market, Living Coast Discover Center (Chula Vista Nature Center), Oceanforce Foundation, Chula Vista Yogini Sisterhood, South Bay Sea •Neighbors and volunteers of the Scouts) community worked together in order to rehabilitate and protect our local natural 450 pounds of litter collected  treasure, the Sweetwater Marsh. Sweetwater Marsh Restoration Project “Our volunteers focused their efforts on the most threatened and neglected area of the Sweetwater Marsh.” “With our newly purchased Home Depot tools were able to more effectively and efficiently carry out our cleanup efforts. Our new gloves helped assure the safety of our volunteers, the buckets helped reduce the use of plastic bags during the event, the axes and chainsaw helped cut some of the larger pieces of trash found and the wheelbarrows allowed us to transport the large pieces of debris to the dumpsters located at the Bay Park.” Weed Abatement Phase 2 Date of Project: Nov. to Dec.  2012 6 neighbors and 15 volunteers  Neighbors and volunteers  including Rancho Del Ray Middle School students worked together in effort of beautifying there community by removing accumulated brush and weeds on East J Street 100 pounds of litter and dirt  collected 60 full bags of debris and  weeds were collected by the City Weed Abatement Phase 2 •13 years of accumulated weeds/brush removed •The team placed mesh to prevent weeds and covered the mesh with mulch.
