Lisa Cohen; representing the Chula ��ista Chamber of Commerce, spoke in support of

There ��as consensus of the Council to direct staff to imrestioate the interest of hotel and motel
o�iners in establishin2 a TMD and pro��ide the Council N�ith a report of the results.

16. C[TY MANAGER'S REPORTS
City Manager Sandoval announced that a portion of Interstate 80� �i�ould be closed August 18-19
due to construction, and that the J Street trollev crossine N�ould be closed Aueust 16-19 for
improvements to the Blue Line trolley track. �
Citti� Manaoer Sando��al recognized Assistant Cin� Manaoer Halbert for his appointment to the
Urban Land Instimte (ULI) ad��isory boazd.

Mati�or Cos announced that there would be intermittent ni¢httime closures of S���eenvater Road at
Interstate 80�. due to construction to ���iden the freewav bridee. She also coneratulated the
Eastlake Little League team for its continued success in the U.S. Little League Championship.
18. COUNCILMEMBERS' COA4A9ENTS
Deputy Mayor Bensoussan announced Chula Vista Harbor Fest scheduled for September 21.
Councilmembers Ramirez and Salas: Report on the recent mission to Irapuato sponsored
by the International Friendship Commission.
Councilmember Ramirez pro��ided information on the recent trip to Irapuato. He stated he and
Councilmember Salas desired to schedule the Intemational Friendship Commissioners to engage
in discussion at a future meetine of the CounciL Ma��or Cox requested that the Councilmembers
���ork �+�ith staff to schedule the item.
Councilmembers Ramirez and Salas ac4:noN�led�ed the Eastlake Little Leaeue team for its
continued success in the U.S. Little LeaQue Championship. �

Geoffre�� Berg, representing Inland Industries, spoke in opposition to the proposed abo��e-ground
power lines in the South Bay Substation Relocation project plan.
John A400t, Chula Vista resident. spoke in opposition to the Council discussing Item 1 in closed
session. He also spoke in opposition to the proposed above-ground po���er lines in the South Bay
Substation Relocation project plan.
