RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNIfJG COMMISSION RECOMMENDING TO THE
CITY COUNCIL THE ADOPTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE ZOiNING ORDINANCE
INCREASING PERMITTED LOT COVERAGE IN THE R-3 ZONES
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission wishes to encourage the provision of
covered off-street parking for apartment projects in the City, and
WHEREAS, open parking is permitted by ordinance to be placed on the
rear and interior side property lines, and
WHEREAS, the Commission desired to consider an amendment which would
permit covered or enclosed parking structures to be placed on the rear or
interior side lot line, and
WHEREAS, the Commission set the time and place for a hearing on said
application, and notice of said hearing, together with its purpose, was given
by the publication in a newspaper of general circulation in the City at least
10 days prior to the date of said hearing, and
WHEREAS, a hearing dvas held at said time and place, namely Monday,
July 28, 1969, at 7 p.m., in the Council Chamber, Civic Center, 276 Guava
Avenue, before the Planning Commission, and said hearing was thereafter closed.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1. Fron the facts presented to the Planning Commission, the Commission
finds that the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning
practice require the adoption of the following amendment to the Zoning Ordinance:
SECTION 33.505
G. Covered or enclosed parking for residential development
may be located in required side and rear yards, with the
exception of the exterior side yard.
2. The findings of fact in support of said determination are as follows:
a. This amendment will permit the covering or enclosing of parking
spaces which are already permitted in rear and interior side
yards.
b. This amendment will promote more efficient use of apartment sites
and encourage the covering of vehicles as required in other
residential zones.
3. The Planning Commission recommends to the City Council that said
amendment be adopted.
4. That this resolution be transmitted to the City Council.
PASSED and APPROVED by the CITY PLANidING COMMISSION of CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA,
this 'L8th day of July 1969, by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: ihembers Putnam, Chandler, Stewart, Hyde, Adams and Macevicz
NOES: None
