RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING TO
THE CITY COUNCIL THE ADOPTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO fiHE CITY
CODE BY ADDIPdG A NE6d CHAPTER 35 REGULATING OUTDOOR ADVERTISING
DISPLAYS
WHEREAS, the City Council has_.acknowledged that the
proliferation of off-premise outdoor advertising displays creates diversions
to the drivers on the freeway and highway systems in the City, and
WHEREAS, they directed that an ordinance be established to regulate
the placement of the outdoor advertising displays in the zones in which they
are permitted in order to promote thepublic health, safety and general welfare;
to enhance and promote the esthetic aspects of landscaped and scenic highways and
parkways; and to eliminate hazards to the safety of motorists on such designated
highways, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission set the time and place for a hearing
on said application, and notice of said hearing, together with its purpose, was
given by the publication in a newspaper of general circulation in the City at
least 10 days prior to the date of said hearing, and
WHEREAS, a hearing was held at said time and place, namely 7 p.m.,
Monday, August 4, 1969, Council Chamber, Civic Center, 276 Guava Avenue, before
the Planning Commission, and said hearing was thereafter closed.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
From facts presented to the Commission, the Commission finds that
public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice require
the adoption of this new chapter to the City Code, as attached.
PASSED and APPROVED BY THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA,
this 4th day of August 1969, by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Members Adams, Chandler, Putnam, Macevicz, Stewart, and Hyde
NOES: None
ABSENT: Member Rice ~
