My congratulations on your appointment to this important commission. The Oath of Office will be administered by the City Clerk during the regular City Council meeting on 9/28/93. It will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Public Services Building, 276 Fourth Avenue. In the event you are unable to attend this meeting, please call the City Clerk's Department at 691-5041 and she will gladly make other arrangements with you so that you can take the oath. The Secretary to this commission, Shirley Buxton, will send you information regarding the meeting dates. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact her at 691-5021. Conflict of Interest -According to the Fair Political Practices Commission, all local government agencies are required to adopt conflict of interest codes designating certain positions which entail the making, or participation in the making, of decisions which may affect financial interests. The Commission to which you are appointed has been identified in Chula Vista's Conflict of Interest Code and you are required to file a Statement of Economic Interest Form 730 upon assuming office (within 30 days of swearing in), yearly by April 1, and a leaving office statement. Failure to file these documents with the City Clerk carries astate- mandated fine of $10 per day. You may wish to review the blank or sample form prior to accepting office. WkS~ile previous experience and education in the areas assigned to the Board/Commission/Committee are considered in the appointment process, your background is not the only determinant. Other interests, previous and current employment, and familiarity with Chula Vista and the community are also relevant. Furthermore, YOU MIIST BE A RESIDENT OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND REGISTERED TO VOTE IN CHULA VISTA AT THE TIME OF YOUR APPOINTMENT.
