At the Pazkway and Loma Verde Recreation Centers, ECOtality needs to install its own electrical meter to serve the new chargers. As such, San Diego Gas & Electric has requested utility easements for the new electrical services. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW The Development Services Director has reviewed the proposed activity for compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and has determined that this action consisting of the granting of utility easements to SDG&E to be used in connection with City of Chula Vista EV charging stations, qualifies for a Class 5 (b) categorical exemption pursuant to Section 15305(b) [Minor Alterations in Land Use Limitati this action will not result in any changes in land use review is required. Additionally, staff has determined that the proposed easements use is consistent with the uses dedicated as permissible for this land. While the easements have nominal value, due to the necessity and benefit to the City's project, staff recommends that the easements be donated to SDG&E. DECISION-MAKER CONFLICTS Staff has reviewed the property holdings of the City Council and has found no property holdings within 500 feet of the boundazies of the property which is the subject of this action. CURRENT YEAR FISCAL IMPACT There is no direct fiscal impact associated with granting the easements. ON-GOING FISCAL IMPACT None. ATTACHMENTS 1. Grantor further grants to Grantee the right to assign any or all of the rights granted in this easement in whole or in part to other companies providing utility or communication facilities/services. Upon receipt of written request from Grantor, this easement will be quitclaimed by Grantee, provided that the facilities have been removed. Grantor will exercise only such reserved rights in said land as will not interfere with or prohibit the free and complete use and enjoyment by Grantee, its successor or assigns, of the rights hereby granted. Grantee shall have the right to assign any or all rights granted in this easement in whole or in part to other companies providing utility or communication services. Grantee shall have the right to top, cut, remove, or trim interfering plants and trees, and to keep said easement free from and to prevent any person, including Grantor and successors and assigns, from erecting, placing, or storing on said easement any flammable or other hazards and any structures, objects, or earth fills/cuts or other obstructions.
