RESOLUTION QF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA WAIVING THE CONSULTANT SELECTION POLICY AND
APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH RICK ENGINEERING COMPANY
FOR THE DESIGN OF THE TELEGRAPH CANYON ROAD MEDIAN
LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS (FROM HALECREST DRIVE TO
PASEO DEL REY) PROJECT
WHEREAS, the FY 97-98 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget contains a project
(LD103) for the design and first phase installation of irrigation and planting in an existing
median island in Telegraph Canyon Road from Halecrest Drive to Paseo Del Rey with a portion
of the median being renovated in conjunction with the planned improvements to the I-
805/Telegraph Canyon Road Interchange project (STM304); and
WHEREAS, the interchange project plans and specifications are being prepared by Rick
Engineering pursuant to an agreement approved on January 23, 1996, by Council Resolution
No. 18193; and
WHEREAS, to assure continuity in the landscape design to be installed in conjunction
with the interchange project, it is proposed that Rick Engineering act as prmae consultant for
the execution of the landscape improvements for the Telegraph Carlyon Road median because
a significant benefit of this proposal would be the expeditious completion of the project; and
WHEREAS, due to workload conflicts and project priont~es, the Parks, Recreation and
Open Space Department Landscape Architect will be unable to complete this project within
the desired time frame.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista in
order to assure continuity in the landscape design to be installed in conjunction w~th the
interchange project, the City Council does hereby waive the Consultant Selection Pohcy ~n
accordance with Section 2.56.070 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code for [he design of the
Telegraph Canyon Road Median Landscape Improvements (from Halecrest Drive to Paseo Pet
Rey) project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby approve the Agreement
with Rick Engineering Company for the Design of the Telegraph Canyon Road Median
Landscape Improves (from Halecrest Drive to Paseo Del Rey), a copy of which shall be kept
on file in the office of the City Clerk as Document No. CO98-055.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista ~s hereby
authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the Gty of Chula
Vista.
