BOARD OF APPEALS AND ADVISORS
CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
October 13, 2003 Conference Room No. 1 4:00 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Bryan Ehm, Vice-Chair Jose Romo, Board
Members Matt Flach, Edward Nagorski, and Ben West
MEMBERS ABSENT: Board Members Jim Monaghan and Donald Snider
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Assistant Director Remp, Deputy Building Official EI-
Khazen, Senior Building Inspector Stingl, and Secretary
Bottorff
CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chairman Ehm called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Members present constituted a quorum.
1. DECLARATION OF EXCUSED/UNEXCUSED ABSENTEEISM: MSUC Romo/Ehm
(5-0) to excuse the absences of Board Members Monaghan and Snider.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MSUC Nagorski/West (5-0) to approve the minutes of
August 11, 2003.
3. NEW BUSINESS: None
4. CHAIRMAN'S COMMENTS/REPORT: None
5. BUILDING OFFICIAL'S COMMENTS/REPORT:
A. Tour of Major Projects
The meeting adjourned at 4:08 p.m. At that time, the bus tour of the City
began. The tour route is outlined in an attached map that was distributed to all
Board Members.

B. State Code Adoption Update
Assistant Director Remp indicated that since California had elected a new
governor in the recall, there might be an opportunity for the Building Standards
Commission to review the state code adoption. Assistant Director Remp will be
attending the NFPA conference in November and will update the Board Members
upon his return.

7. ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Ehm adjourned the meeting at 4:08 p.m. to the next
regular meeting scheduled for November 10, 2003.
