Dear Mayor Cox:
FEB p y, 2013
I want to personally thank you for your letter in support of S. 150, the
Assault Weapons Ban of 2013.
As we witnessed in Connecticut, military-style assault weapons and large-
- capacity:magazines are among the weapons of choice for those who seek to do the
- most harm in the least amount of time. I believe that passing this common-sense
gun safety measure is a significant step in keeping our cities and neighborhoods
safe.
I greatly appreciate your letter and the increased support it brings to ensure
that these weapons are taken off our streets. I hope that you will continue to be an
important voice in helping me pass this bill and that we can work together to find
additional solutions to address these senseless acts of violence.
Thank you once agaih for your support of this legislation.
Sincerely,
I ~-• ~-G.,.~ s~

Additional Current Year Fiscal Impact Language:
The appropriation of $1,430,000 will reduce the estimated General Fund reserves from $11.9 million
to $10.5 million or from 9.5% to 8.4% in the current year. The impact may be mitigated due to one-
time unanticipated revenues received in the current year. Additional information will be provided in
the Second Quarter Financial Report currently being prepared. It is anticipated that the General Fund
will be reimbursed for the purchase of this property through revenues generated from the Bayfront as
identified in the Bayfront Finance Agreement.
Clarification of last paragraph on pq. 5-2 (Staff Report)
Staff recommends assuming the lease with Pacifica Trust Bank and to use the lease revenues
derived from the site in the current fiscal year for preparing a feasibility study to determine if the site
can be utilized as a permanent fire station. Staff does not recommend using any revenue for any
capital improvements to the facility until such time that the Bayfront fire station is required for the
development of the Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan.
