RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA SUPPORTING SB 31 (PEACE) AND AB 4 (BALDWIN),
MURDER: SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
WHEREAS, the children of our planet are its most precious resources; and
WHEREAS, the protection and welfare of our children must always be among our
highest priorities; and
WHEREAS, those who would deliberately harm a child must be given the maximum
punishment for their actions; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 31 (Peace) and Assenably Bill 4 (Baldwin) would mandate life
in prison without possibility of parole or the death sentence for those convicted of intentionally
killing a victirn who was under 14 years of age; and
WHEREAS, this issue is not covered under the City's adopted 1999 Legislative Program
and so requires Council action in order for the City to take a position on these bills.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista
